Mac Innocent Patentpolish Lip Pencil
Brand new to the MAC counter is their answer to the jumbo pencil lipstick.
MAC is launching its new, limited edition Patentpolish Lip Pencil, which promises the color and shine of a lip gloss, combined with the precision of a lip pen. While at the MAC counter the other week, I remembered reading reviews on the limited edition Patentpolish lip pencils. Knowing that I can’t pass up a good lip crayon, I had to check them out. The first thing I noticed was the dome-shaped tip, which is unique for a lip crayon, as most have a pointed tip. The highly popular Patentpolish Lip Pencil returns as your go-to magic wand for high-impact lips, with a single swipe imbuing the ultimate high-gloss shine. Enjoy color in an expanded range of 14 shades. This sleek, all-in-one tool offers the comfort of a balm, the color and sheen of a gloss and the precision of a lip pencil. With an effortless twist-up applicator, you'll never have to sharpen. Unlike other versions that promise to hydrate, think of this as a shiny emollient lipstick in a pencil form. The colour is not sheer… but almost sheer. One coat works with your lip colour, but because this is a lipstick and can be layered, additional coats can provide almost opaque coverage.
After application this does tend to “set” on the lips – much like a lipstick. That only adds to its appeal because it doesn’t wear off easily and seems to stay put on the lips longer than the average jumbo pencil product.
What MAC gives that others don’t is a truly fabulous shade selection. There are a few pinks and reds to choose from so whether you’re a wallflower or an exhibitionist when it comes to your lips, there’s something for you.
One thing: the point isn’t sharpened which means that precise application is not what these are for. Clean up accordingly and follow up with a lip pencil if need be.
